Our examiners utilize "state of the art" computerized instruments combined with the latest technological developments in computerized scoring software.

IN BRIEF, HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?

The polygraph works by tracing changes in a person's physiological state, occurring during questioning. These changes are recorded directly onto the polygraph charts and are reviewed by a qualified examiner.

These charts are generated by attaching four electronic conductors / sensor components to the subject.

These physiological changes that occur in the subject, emanate from and may be linked with the subject's emotional connection to truth or deception, embedded in the subject for many years. Obviously, these theories have been the subject of various research projects for decades.

Our examiners have devoted countless hours of study in the field of polygraph chart analysis in order to read and interpret these charts with complete accuracy.

These new systems include chart analysis formulas and on screen (rather than a roll of chart paper), analysis charts. Scoring of the charts is identically for both systems, mechanical and computerized.

However, the computerized systems which AFA employs, have built-in assessment aids for the examiner, and also eliminate the possibility of equipment failures that are inherently chronic with mechanical equipment, which could result in inaccurate charting or other test anomalies.
